Imagine this: you’re brimming with life-changing information that your ideal clients need to know. You want to get your message out there, but there’s a little voice inside of you that keeps you from saying “yes” to the opportunities that could propel your message to a larger audience.
Your words can’t change lives if you keep them to yourself. Getting your voice out there is the first step to connecting with your ideal clients.
Our CEO Marta Sauret Greca embodies this idea by continuously showing up when speaking opportunities come her way. She’s a contributing expert to Pittsburgh Live Today, taking her expertise to the TV screen to advise families and business owners alike on how to live more peaceful, fun-filled, and successful lives.
Her most recent segment, “How Kind Words Can Help Shift Our Way of Thinking,” focused on bettering mental health through mantras and exercises in gratefulness.
So how can you break through your own blocks to show up for your audience? Marta contributed her advice this week for business owners who are right at the edge of unlocking their new level of success.
Remember: Fear is a Liar
Oftentimes we want to go for new opportunities, but there is a voice in the back of our heads that gives us a hundred reasons why we shouldn’t. What if you say the wrong thing? What if you make a mistake? What if this opportunity ends up not being what you expected?
There are plenty of excuses that voice can create to keep you where you are. But fear isn’t reality. It’s made to keep you playing small and stay stuck.
Here’s an exercise to help. Place a hand over your heart and close your eyes. Say to yourself, “Thank you, brain, for trying to keep me safe. These fears aren’t real, and we have permission to follow our dreams.”
Allow yourself the chance to release fear and say yes to the opportunities that light you up.
What’s Meant for You Will Come Your Way
There’s no such thing as missing out. We convince ourselves that if we aren’t doing the same events or features as other people, then we’re not doing things the “right” way. That leads to a serious case of Fear Of Missing Out (FOMO) and an energy-sucking mentality you don’t need.
The opportunities that are aligned to your unique and individual path will work out for you. You don’t have to say “yes” to everything, but if something sticks out to you and makes you excited, that’s a sign to go for it. And if it’s meant to be, it’ll happen!
Seek Opportunities Instead of Waiting for Offers
You can create all the vision boards and mantras, do all the meditations and visualizing, but if you want to find success, you have to act, too. Business owners often think they have to wait for someone to approach THEM with a feature. In reality, successful business owners reach out on their own to secure their spotlights. Many times, the offers for new features come after they’ve taken the leap and applied for interviews and opportunities that lit them up.
Sign yourself up for that podcast or web feature. Fill out applications for speaking events. You’ll see once you put yourself out there, and as a result show the universe this is what you want, more opportunities will come right to you.
